About us
Sheffield Notary Public is an experienced source of notary services in Sheffield and the surrounding areas of Yorkshire and Derbyshire.
Notary Public of England and Wales, Nathan Woodcock, is the founder of our company. He has substantial experience as a notary, and he has dealt with a vast range of documents for varied purposes. In his time as a notary, he has helped thousands of clients with both their notarisation and legalisation needs, and the number grows every day.
At our firm, we recognise the importance of tailoring our services to the unique needs of each of our individual clients. This approach allows us to offer flexible services to our diverse clients, which include individuals, small businesses, and even large companies. No matter what, we aim to make our services as convenient, accessible and efficient as possible.

Sheffield Notary Public Services
A Notary Public is a specialist solicitor who is qualified to certify and notarise legal and official documents. The process of notarisation is how notaries do this, which involves them providing their seal, stamp and signature to prove that a document has been checked and certified as legitimate.
In fact, a Notary Public primarily authenticates documents for use in foreign jurisdictions, which is something a normal solicitor cannot do. Additionally, notaries can certify documents for use within the UK, which is something they share with solicitors.
Here at Sheffield Notary Public, we offer bespoke packages that are available on request for our varied clients, as we have packages that cater to individuals, small to midsize enterprises, and even large corporations.
Some of the documents we commonly notarise include affidavits, educational documents, powers of attorney, statutory declarations, and wills. However, these are not the only documents we can notarise. There are many documents that we very rarely come across, but if it is a legitimate document and it can be notarised, then we will do it for you.
Please note that there are a small number of documents that we cannot notarise, which are those issued by the General Registry Office (GRO), such as birth, marriage and death certificates. However, GRO certificates will still need to be legalised for use abroad.
Additionally, we offer translation services if your documents are going to be used in a country where English is not widely used.
Finally, we have other services such as legalisation, as well as our mobile notary service. These are both accessible and useful services that many of our clients use.

Legalisation & Apostille
Once your important documents have been notarised, they will then need to be legalised so that they can be used in the foreign jurisdiction you are going to. Legalisation is a requirement for taking documents abroad, so it is convenient to use our services after getting your documents notarised.
As a Notary Public, we can manage the whole process of legalisation for you, regardless of whether you need to take your documents to a country that accepts apostilles, or one that needs you to go through embassy or consulate legalisation.
Most countries accept apostilles, which were introduced following the Hague Apostille Convention in 1961 as an easier way to legalise documents to go abroad. Over time, more and more countries have become signatories to the point more countries accept them than ones that do not. Some countries also use apostilles as part of their own embassy legalisation processes.
In the UK, you can get an apostille for your documents from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). At Sheffield Notary Public, we are capable of managing the entire process of getting an apostille for you, which saves you time and gives you less to worry about.
For countries that do not accept apostilles, you will need to put your documents through the much lengthier embassy or consulate legalisation process. This process is much more complex and has more stages to it, as the authorities of where you want to go will carry out several checks of your documents. However, just like with apostilles, our Sheffield notary can manage the whole of the process for you, so that you do not have all the stress of applying for the legalisation of your important documents.

Mobile Service
Not only do we take appointments at our office in Sheffield, but we also provide mobile notary services across Sheffield and surrounding areas. Nathan can travel to any suitable location of your choice, such as your home, office, a local café, or another place, and carry out the act of notarising your documents.
Our mobile notary service is an incredibly convenient and accessible service that further caters to the needs of our clients, as not everyone will be able to make it to one of our offices.
We understand that many people will be working during our usual 9 to 5 office hours, so you can even arrange your mobile notary appointment to take place outside of our normal hours.
If Nathan can travel to you, he will. Get in touch with us today if our services interest you.
